A warm, easygoing family in Berkeley, CA is looking for a loving and dependable part-time nanny to join their family long-term and care for their two children, ages 2 and 4.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a nanny looking for a consistent, very part-time schedule with a family that values reliability, communication, and a calm, loving approach to childcare. The family is comfortable considering candidates with less extensive professional nanny experience, as long as they have hands-on experience caring for toddlers/preschool-aged children and are confident with this age group.

The family will be moving just a few blocks away within the next few weeks.

📅 Schedule

The family’s highly preferred schedule is:

  • Wednesday: 8:00am–4:00pm → 8 hours

  • Thursday: 12:00pm–5:00pm → 5 hours

  • Friday: 12:00pm–5:00pm → 5 hours

  • Saturday: 8:00am–2:00pm → 6 hours

However, they have some flexibility! If a nanny prefers a Sunday/Monday schedule, they are open to discussing that arrangement, with Monday being the longer day and Sunday being the shorter day.

For a nanny seeking additional hours, the family may also consider 3 days per week.

The family has two young children, A (2) and K (4). They are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys this stage of childhood and will be attentive, affectionate, patient, and engaged with them throughout the day.

The family values age-appropriate play, connection, and allowing the children to follow their normal routines and developmental milestones.

🧸 Responsibilities

The nanny’s primary focus will be the children and creating a warm, engaging environment for them.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing attentive and loving childcare

  • Engaging the children in age-appropriate activities and play

  • Helping with the children’s morning and breakfast routine

  • Following the family’s established routines

  • Supporting the children’s normal developmental milestones

  • Preparing one simple family meal during the children’s nap period using a recipe provided by the family

  • Cleaning up after meal preparation

No general housekeeping is required.

The children typically nap from 12:00–2:00 PM, and the parents handle putting them down for their naps. During this time, the nanny will have an opportunity to take a break in addition to preparing the simple family meal.

Both parents work from home and describe their parenting style as fairly go-with-the-flow. They give their nanny plenty of independence and want her to feel comfortable taking the lead throughout the day.

The parents generally allow the nanny to work through normal situations independently. For particularly difficult meltdowns, they are available to step in when necessary, but they prefer not to immediately interfere.

The family already has another nanny who works with them on other days and has had a very positive experience with nanny care. They especially appreciate a nanny who is calm, fun, reliable, communicative, and comfortable maintaining the children’s routine.
